The training method used at Tuxzat Kennels is the Instinctive Training Method.        It is different because it works............. More importantly it works extremely well because it does not rely on pain or punishment being inflicted upon your dog. Our method of training relies on some simple fundamentals of how dogs communicate and interact with each other, and accept leadership from a pack leader.
Old methods of dog training relied on force, fear and threats to make the dog complete obedience exercises . Our method is a better way. It is faster, kinder and more fun for dogs and their owners.
Although we take a professional, systematic approach to training dogs, it still needs to be FUN.
In order to successfully train your dog, you must first accept that your dog is a pack animal and has natural instincts which can be used as an effective tool and training aid. Dogs have highly developed sensory perceptions. To successfully train dogs we need to work within those perceptions and use them as an aid to training. He cannot learn on a human level. Your dog is firstly canine, a group which includes wolves, coyotes and dingoes, secondly a domestic dog. We see dogs as dogs, and we see humans as humans. When a dog looks at us he sees us as dogs. He can not accept that we are different. He sees us as being members of a pack in which he belongs.
By understanding these important distinctions, we can improve our success in training dogs. What makes a dog capable of following direction from a human is the instinct to accept leadership from a pack leader. Dogs are pack animals and such they form a very clear and distinct heirarchy. There is the pack leader and then there are subordinates also ranked in order. The leader has certain privileges that the others do not enjoy. One of these privileges is that he eats first, sleeps where he likes, and mates who he likes. As in every group or pack, challenges for leadership will occur. This is one reason why your dog may not be behaving in an appropriate manner now, he may be challenging for leadership or a higher order in the pack.
Our method of training relies on us communicating to the dog in a pack instinct way which he already understands, rather than the incorrect , inapproproiate use of force of a choker chain or by inflicting pain upon the dog. If a chocker chain is used by us, we call it a correction collar, we then use it in an appropriate manner which can be demonstrated to you.
Pack instinct in dogs is hereditary and has developed over thousands of years in canines. Your dog associates your family as his new pack. In fact, it is his second pack experience. His first was with his mother and litter mates. When your puppy arrives at your home, it instinctively will seek a position in its new pack. If you have a naturally dominant dog and allow it to do what pack leaders do then it is natural for him to assume the role of pack leader.

"Let our years of experience work for you"
Make no mistake, your dogs views your family as members of a pack in which he belongs. Where he fits into this pack as a leader or a follower depends among other things, on his temperament, your temperament and the type of training you have completed with him. An important thing to realise is that if your dog is given the choice between being the leader or finding a leader, he will almost always choose to find a leader. If he cannot find one, then he will become the leader. Once trained correctly and accepting his owner as a leader, the relationship between owner and dog always improves. The dog will become more content and happy, as there is not the endless power struggle on a daily basis. Dogs which have exhibited many poor behavioural problems become new dogs after correct training, and certainly more pleasant to live with once they accept our way of life.
If you learn to be firm and consistent as well as loving and fair, your dog will accept you as its pack leader. Once set no one can undo your leadership role. Your dog will respond to you in direct correlation with the way you interact with him, and the way he has been trained.

"Some well meaning people simply do not understand behavioural patterns of dogs. They deserve respect, but don't confuse this with giving in to his every desire, or he becomes the leader."

From personal experiences in training dogs for other people, we have found that many dogs will accept us as their pack leader. This is because we have communicated to the dog by my words and actions that we are in charge. However, when the dog goes home it will still test its owner to see where it stands with them. Unless the owner has taken the time to learn proper dog handling techniques, the dog will probably misbehave just as much as it did before training. When we train dogs for other people it is equally important that we train the owners to also be the leader, and to communicate to the dog in a canine way, as it is for us to train the dog effectively, using correct communication, and without force or pain.
A dog will respond to each person according to how that person presents themselves to the dog.  When having the dog professionally trained it is essential that the owner spend sufficient time with the person who trained the dog, to enable the owner to be trained in correct handling techniques as well as how to behave as the dogs leader. This will ensure that the owner asserts their dominance by compelling the dog to carry out useful obedience exercises which you many encounter daily, that make him a more enjoyable part of the family. Through this approach your dog easily learns to accept you as its pack leader.
The method we will use on your dog will be the one which works,
they are all different."

A bossy misbehaved dog is not a bad dog, he just has not had anyone to take over the leadership role from him and he has choose to be the one.
By now most people have attempted to train their dog themselves and found out how difficult it can be. The reason is that a majority of dogs will resist training, in order to defend his position in the pack, regardless of how low in that pack he is or where you see him to be. Dogs may resist training by growling and biting, remaining stationary and acting deaf or many other ways. It is much easier to convince a puppy or a young dog that you are its leader while it is initially looking for a position in the pack rather than later when his position is set.
Most people do not have the necessary skill or knowledge to enable them to train their dog themselves. Some well meaning people simply don't understand the behavioural patterns of dogs and this can lead to behavioural problems developing with their pet. A dog is a living, thinking being. He deserves respect, but don't confuse this with giving into the dogs every desire. Having him trained by a professional handler will get the best results. Because each dog is different it would be impossible to write a set of instructions to enable you to train your dog. Using a great method will work on some dogs, but certainly not on all dogs. It would depend on breed, age, temperament, dominance etc. The method we will use on your dog is the one that works. One method may work on some dogs but not on others. A professional handler/trainer will already be familiar with your type of dog and know how to get the best from him.
Once your dog is properly trained under our system, be assured that no one can undo the level of obedience training you have achieved, and the leadership which you can now show your dog.
We recommend that dogs be left with us for the duration of training to get the very best results. In many years of dog training, we have found that dogs do not fail to respond to our method of training.
Generally we do not recommend classes or group lessons because many people do not have the necessary skill or knowledge to train a dog. Classes rely heavily on the timing of correction and praise, and by the time the instructor calls to praise the dogs and the handler responds, the moment may be lost. There are too many distractions to create a learning environment, and it only takes a few very disruptive dogs to upset a whole class. Most dogs generally can only concentrate for 5 to 10 minutes at a time before requiring at least 1 hour rest. So with going to classes, only 10 minutes may be effective, and we have found that the vast majority of dogs require at least 50 lessons to complete our obedience and problem solving course. Many people do not have the time required to attend regularly, and give up soon after seeing very slow progress. Therefore classes are generally ineffective.
Home visits generally do not work either. A large part of the fee is spent on travelling time for the trainer as the dog is only concentrating for very short periods prior to needing a rest. Again, most dogs require 50 lessons to complete a full obedience course, therefore price becomes prohibitive, and it still relies on the owner doing most of the training. There a lot of people who can tell you how to train your dog, then leave the training up to you, and they can not do it themselves. Reading a book is easy, training a dog is the difficult part. The proof is in how well the dog works.
With our system of a live in course, where each dog receives around 60 personal lessons, we find it far easier to teach the owners how to handle the dog correctly once he is properly trained rather then attempting to teach owners how to train the dog, which takes many years of experience.
There are many training establishments in Sydney using different methods and obtaining varying degrees of results. Our Instinctive Training Method works with all breeds of dogs and has been proven with thousands of dogs completing the course, and comes with a "lifetime of the dog guarantee."
If there is no result then we charge no fee.

"Many people can tell you how to train your dog. The proof is in how well your dog works."
